Announcement: Three-month suspension of our daily fact-checking operation
Dear readers and followers,
At Annie Lab, we are committed to training our students at the University of Hong Kong with integrity and dedication, striving to deliver high-quality fact-checking journalism in the process.
Today we announce a temporary suspension of our operations, effective from July through September 2025.
This decision comes as a result of our plan to relocate our newsroom — a space we called home for the past five years, and a symbol of our team’s collaborative spirit. Over the summer, we will prepare the new co-working space on campus at Eliot Hall, where we will continue our operations after the new academic year starts.
We need to restructure our workflow to ensure we provide sufficient training and guidance to our student fact-checkers, thereby meeting international standards for quality, impartial fact-checking journalism.
During these three months, we will redesign our relevant curricula and operational procedures to build a stronger, more resilient future.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support and understanding during this transitional time.
We look forward to returning in October 2025, reinvigorated and ready to bring you the thorough verification, investigation, and analysis you value.
Thank you for standing with us.
Sincerely,
The Annie Lab Team
