Misleading: Video of ‘fake shrimp’ in China shows food replicas, seafood processing

The viral video in multiple languages depicts replica-making, vegan shrimp molds, legit industrial shrimp processing, and stock footage for ads

Google SynthID watermarks indicate the footage was created or edited with a generative AI tool.

The clip shows many tell-tale signs of AI-generated video. The original Douyin creator explicitly labeled it as synthetic.

Footage of soldiers resting in a corridor was filmed at Fort Lee, Virginia. It originates from a TikTok post in December last year.

The viral image was meant as a joke, featuring a manipulated screenshot swapping a real politician’s identity for a fictional candidate
